Pyrs Yes
We rescued a Pyr 6 weeks ago. She is 12 months old now. Beautiful but skinny. We came by
her from a friend who rescued her and her sister from a farm. Too many animals to deal
with I guess. Anyway, I guess her, and 5 other litter sibblings were shut up in a chicken
coupe with a very small run. After they got so big nobody wanted them. My friend rescued
two females ( they were nine months old then) but were a lot to deal with. Kira, has come
a long way. At first she just ran and hid in any small corner or small area. Now she is
totally devoted to me and our 8 year old son, and she justed decided in the last few days
that my husband is pretty cool too. She sleeps on my side of the bed and follows me
everywhere. We have noticed in the last week that she is very protective of me. We had
friends over and when he started jestering with his hands excitedly, and sitting closeby
her, she growled. She had really come a long way, but as we are new to this breed would
really like any info on them. Please pass any on.

I love your site!!!!! I visited the Netherlands over the past summer. I attended a
parachut jump school on the Island of Texel, located in on the Nord Sea. You live in a
beautiful place. South Carolina is not bad either. I love my two Great Whites. One is
almost three and the other six months. It took a while for the older one to get used to
Sheba, but they are best buds now.
Take care, give the dogs a kiss for me!

Lisa and I recently purchased two Pyr female pups to help keep predators at bay around our

unaffected by the weather, or moreso than other dogs. I will bookmark your great site for
future references.

I am adopting a 4 year old female to add to my family of 3 children, a significant other,

What is the best type of food? Sleeping arrangements? Toys, etc.
I am very appreciative of any/all help I can get.

We have a wonderful, fairly white pyr named Annie Oakley. She loves to lay on top of her
dog house and other spots in the back yard that are higher up so that she can view the
largest area possible. She is a mud-puppy. She like to stand in her water dish and then
roll in the dirt. We bought Annie from a breeder in Colorado two years ago when we were
living on horse property there. Now, instead of chasing horses, she chases around our
golden retriever Jesse James and goes to the beach to prance around the waves.

First of all my congratulations for your fine "doggy" site.
I like dogs, particularly giant dogs, but as far as now I
hadn't any because of my living in a town apartment, which
in my opinion isn't the best accomodation for such a big
animal like the Pyr, or, for example, the Leonberger
(another breed which meets my likes). Until I shall be
in the condition of going to live in a house in the
countryside, I'll follow to share my life with Lulù,
a very beautiful girl, quite young, belonging to the
feline breed.
All the way, I'll go on visiting your lovely site.
Best regards

Would like information concerning training our dogs not to take food from strangers or
food found that might have been tossed onto the property (concerned about poisoning). Our
predators are the two legged variety. Our 80 + lb "babies" have the
responsibility of watching our goat herd, annoying our pot bellied pig, drooling on the
cat and being taught who is boss by our Shepard mix, older female (she stands about six
inches shorter than the boys). They do respect her as the Alpha female. We did install a
pet door in our gate... we could not stand to see our babies looking so pathetic being
left with only the goats. Now, they have access to the entire property. Thanks for the
great web page.

2 wonderful companions (average for a pyr I suppose)
Anytime I'm asked about the Pyr's reputation for stubborness, I merely call mine over to

difficult. Anyway, I hope to own my own 6-pack of Pyrs. That would be fun.

Hi Just got my wonderful dog 3 months ago. She has a personality like none I have seen
before. I love her lots but I am worried about her biting , pawing and jumping on people
when she is excited. She also has trouble staying outside for more than ten minutes with
out barking and distrubing the neighbors. Is this normal? I do not know anyone with Great
Pyrenees and this is my first. PLEASE IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFO OR HELPFUL TIPS EMAIL ME.
Thankyou Pyrlover

My 95 yer old uncle raises fighting cocks, and he's always
needed a dog to guard them, as he lives out in the country.
He's outlived lots of guard dogs of various kinds. He now
has a 9 month old pyr, a beautiful dog named Duke. I'm
sending him info off the 'net about the breed - he doesn't
know much about them. So far, Duke has kept away all the
varmits, and most importantly, doesn't attack the chickens
himself. My uncle is very interested in training his dogs,
so Duke should be easy.
