My life and my passion are the Great Pyrenees

From childhood on already infected with the "dogvirus", there have always been dogs in the family.
In 1983 my husband and I moved from Germany to the Netherlands and with us our dear German Shepherd mix . January !991 he died of heart failure at  10 years old.
Of course a living without a dog was out of the question.

In the past I had read about the Great Pyrenees and also seen some, so my decision was made: a Great Pyrenees puppy was joining us.
With the new puppy I also acquired a new "virus", not noticed in the beginning but very fast I was hit by the "potato chip factor", I could not stay with only one Pyr, I wanted more. It took untill late 1992 befor I gave in and so our "Percey" got my full attention for almost 2 years.
This resulted in in a Pyr who accomplished a lot in the obedience and Search and Rescue training.. At the age of 17 month he got his diploma for the Search and Rescue basic level. At the age of 20 month he got the Club GG 1 diploma (sorry, I don't have any comparisatin for this in English) at the Kynologen Club Zeeland.

In 1991 I also became a member of the Dutch Great Pyrenees Club, the N.V.L.P.H. and I  enterd "Percey" in the comformation ring, but a better qualification then a "very good" was never achieved. But we had a lot of fun !!!!

Spring 1992 the 2nd dog joined the family, no, not another Pyr yet, but a German Shepherd
Easy Rider van Soeburcht. He too went to obedience and Search and Rescue training with me and both dogs accompanied me when I was following lessons to become a trainer  myself. I  got my diploma in 1992 for G & G trainer from KNK Cynofilia

But I always had the "Big Whites" in my mind and I wanted to add a bitch to my other two dogs. I talked about it with friends and Pyr breeders and end of 1992 I was able to buy a 2 year old female which was also very promising for showing and breeding purposes. She had been to some shows with her owner already, with good results.
So "Granly Nana" came from Denmark to the Netherlands, she was the foundation of my breeding program.

1993 was the foundation year of "Ursa's Signum", my registered name with the Dutch Kennel Club and the FCI.

Family and friends from the time before I was hit by the "Pyr virus" had a very tuff time to understand my way of life and some of them did not last over, but I made other friends instead who are as passionated as I with the Pyrs.

May 1993 my first litter was born and I kept a male and a female out of it. I also imported another female puppy from Belgium. We took training classes in obedience and visited expositions in Netherland and other countries too. The results were very satisfying.

Now some years have passed by and I met a lot of interesting people and some of them became real friends. Traveling to dog shows also outside the Netherlands, visiting breeders and meeting the new families of my puppies has changed my life in a very pleasant way.
